Workforce Development & Trucking Regulations Workshops

You asked and we listened—the Iowa Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association (INEDA) will host another workforce development workshop this year!

This year, the Regional Workshops will be held in conjunction with a Trucking Regulations Workshop at each meeting location. These workshops will be beneficial for dealership executives, store and branch managers, human resources, recruitment professionals, and transportation department employees. Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association Awards $90,000 in Scholarships to 79 Students

The Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association (INEDA) is pleased to share that it has awarded $90,000 in matching scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year to 79 students pursuing careers in Iowa and Nebraska equipment dealerships.

“The Andrew Goodman Scholarship program has helped AgriVision Equipment recognize high school senior students who have an interest in the ag equipment and technology industry,” said Todd Barker of AgriVision Equipment Group. “It is a vital tool to make young recruits into professionals who impact the success of our customers.”

What is PCI DSS v4.0 All About?

If you are a dealer merchant of any size accepting credit cards, you must be in compliance with PCI Security Council standards. PCI DSS version 4.0 was released on March 31, 2022; however, it has been in a transition period since the prior version v3.2.1 was retired on March 31, 2024.

The new requirements of version 4.0 will become effective March 31, 2025. What does that mean for you? If you have already completed your Security Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) you are compliant until your next SAQ is due. When your next SAQ is due, you will be required to be in compliance with PCI DSS v4.0. You may already be completing all the requirements of v4.0, but if you aren’t, it is now a requirement.

WNCC Announces Expansion of CDL Program

Western Nebraska Community College is thrilled to announce the launch of its expanded Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program in Sidney, beginning in Fall 2024.

This expansion, made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, helps address the growing demand for skilled commercial drivers in the region. The U.S. Department of Labor's community funding appropriations request, supported by Representative Adrian Smith (NE-3), will facilitate the expansion of the CDL program at WNCC and at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. Funding will enable WNCC to hire additional instructors and purchase state-of-the-art equipment.

Brookings, Watertown to Host Titan Machinery Student Camps

Titan Machinery, in partnership with community and technical colleges in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Idaho, and North Dakota, looks forward to hosting ninth through 12th grade students throughout this year’s Titan Machinery Student Camps.

As Goes Nebraska, so Goes Maine? Lawmakers Mull Winner-Takes-All System for Presidential Electors

A Democratic leader in the State House says Maine should change the way it awards presidential electors if lawmakers in Nebraska make a similar switch.

House AG Committee Chair Releases 2024 Farm Bill Overview

House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15) released the following statement after sharing a title-by-title overview of the bipartisan policies and priorities included in the 2024 farm bill.

"This bill is a product of an extensive and transparent process, which included soliciting feedback from Members of both political parties, stakeholder input from across the nation, and some tough conversations. Each title of this farm bill reflects a commitment to the American farmer and viable pathways to funding those commitments, and is equally responsive to the politics of the 118th Congress.

 
 
CNH, Satellite Communication Network Intelsat Announce Farmers’ Ruggedized Internet Access System

CNH and Intelsat, operator of one of the world's largest integrated satellite and terrestrial communication networks, today announced a collaboration that will be the first to provide farmers ubiquitous access to the internet via a ruggedized satellite communications (SATCOM) service. Based on a new memorandum of understanding, Intelsat will provide multi-orbit internet access to connect CNH equipment working in remote locations and easy-to-use satellite terminals ready to handle the challenging environment on a farm.

This week's USDA Crop Progress report shows corn planting overall currently three percentage points (36% planted) behind the five year average, while soybean planting is four points ahead (25%) of historic pace. Emerged corn currently sits at 12% overall, three points ahead of the five year average. Soybean emergence sits at five percentage points (9%) ahead of pace.

Ohio and Pennsylvania corn farmers made huge planting gains over the past week, with Buckeye State farmers tacking on 20 percentage points and Quaker State farmers adding 21. Indiana farmers also added 12 percentage points of progress over the last seven days.
